So I have taken on a new adventure in the world of coaching......I'm now coaching sophomore basketball at Orem high. HAHAHA I've now understood why I coach softball instead of basketball. I am so high strung and competitive that coaching younger less experienced players is a challenge. I have a hard time turning off my "eat you up" defensive mentality in order to explain and coach the game. Basketball is so fast and so many things are dependent on your opponent that it is hard to teach what exactly to do. In softball I can say, "They pitch it we hit it, they hit it we catch it." If its a strike you swing, if its a ball you let it go. If they are running home you throw to the catcher and catcher you get them out!!!! But with basketball their are so many right answers and even more wrong ones. Hahaha I guess that is why you can score 108 points and still lose. One thing that it is teaching me is that i need to be PATIENT!!! Easier said than done, but hopefully I can acquire the trait fast so that I can teach them the game before its game time on NOV. 23.
